Thankful Thursday

This is my first Thankful Thursday  post (thank you, Kim, at My Field of Dreams), so last night I started to write down all the things I felt so blessed for in my own life, but after watching the TV coverage and reading all the news stories about the miraculous rescue of the 33 Chilean miners, it seemed like a no-brainer to dedicate today's post to these men, as well as  their families.  I am SO  thankful that these men made it out alive and safely into the loving arms of their families.

I have no relatives, friends or any connection to Chile whatsoever, but as a human being, when I think of how I'd feel if my husband or any family member were in this situation for the last 69 days, I can't help but cry (and cry, and cry...).  It's such a wonderful/inspiring/thrilling story and a bright light of hope in this dark world. I truly believe that this happy ending would not have been possible without God's intervention.  There are NO limits to his power! Praise God for another job well done!

Hear, O LORD, and be merciful to me;
       O LORD, be my help."
  You turned my wailing into dancing;
       you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy,
  that my heart may sing to you and not be silent.
       O LORD my God, I will give you thanks forever.
Psalm 30: 10-12

  3. I so agree, when it first happened and they said it was going to take so long to reach them I would feel so panicked inside. I watched this drama off and on all day and I was so thankful for each man and family that made it to the top. It always made my problems seem so small.

    Thank you so much for remembering me in your post today.
    Also I would love to send you a bracelet to go with your 4 sweaters so if you want tell me what colors you like the best and I will make you a bracelet and I also put matching ear rings in the box would you like those too?
    I will leave you my email here and leave your snail mail address in my email box and I will make you one and send it off. :)

  8. HELLO!! I'm sorry I've not been able to visit your blog, but think I'm all caught up on your posts--I don't know where to start, so I will just say that I'm there with you on the battery hens, I love the scare-crow, and like you we were glued to the computer yesterday at work as we watched the rescues--The doctor I work for let us watch it in between patients which we all thought was very nice of him--It was amazing and wonderful how people came together to help these miners.

  9. Our small town rung the old courthouse bell in honor of these men being rescued today. It was rung 33 times in their honor.

  11. It is a true miracle and makes us all realize how much we have to be grateful for, I think. I love it that they rang the bell 33 times in Farmchick's town. These men touched the hearts of the whole world.

  13. You asked about my wire I used? It is a spool of arc welding wire. I bought the spool about 20 years ago and I am just now at the end of it. I believe it is about 18 or 20 gauge. My son who now welds told me what it was, all I remember doing is walking around Home Depot until I found the wire I wanted. With six kids in tow. :)
    I think 18 is easier to work with, but not to then but the 20 looks gnarly. Make sure it is the rusty looking kind, shiny that I bought at Michael's in the floral department just doesn't look right.
